Forum Rules and Guide to Usage
Welcome to the Slice of Life forum!
By becoming a registered member of Slice of Life, you have agreed to abide by the following rules and regulations, so please ensure that you read and understand them. If you have any questions regarding the rules, you are welcome to contact a Moderator.
The information contained within the Slice of Life Forum are independent views and opinions and are not necessarily representative of the Slice of Life's views or opinions. We take no responsibility for their accuracy or content.
At Slice of Life we have tried to make a friendly place where you can speak openly and honestly about your experiences. However to ensure your experience here is a positive one, we have had the need to implement the following rules and guidelines.
General Forum Posting Rules
1. Members are expected to express themselves in a polite and friendly manner at all times. Please also refrain from the use of obscene profanities in general discussions.
2. Members are expected to show respect for others and their opinions. Bullying, abuse and personal attacks will not be tolerated by any means; either on the boards or via PM. We ask that you do not retaliate, but report any offending posts using the alert button available or forward offending PMs to a moderator.
3. Debating and opinions are more than welcome (particularly in our Debating Section), but please be wary of others feelings. We will not tolerate attacks on other members of the Slice of Life forums and threads will be locked or deleted as appropriate and we will also review membership.
4. You are more than welcome to vent, but please be aware of defamation and how it may affect you.
5. The owners of The Slice of Life Forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason. We will endeavour to inform you of our reasoning via the PM system.
6. The owners of The Slice of Life Lifestyle Forums reserve the right to review any membership at any time, and take appropriate action as necessary, which may include discontinuing your participation on the forums in part or completely.
7. Members are more than welcome to request a username change, and we will accomodate that request as long as the username is available. However, you will be required to keep your new username for a minimum of six months. If you request a different username within the six month timeframe, SoL moderators will pick your new one for you.
By changing your username, you forfeit your claim on your previous username.
8. At present we do not have an infraction system in place. Infracton systems aim to moderate those who breach the rules of the site. It works on a point system which can affect membership and participation in a forum. We would like to promote a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Slice of Life. However if members cannot abide by the rules an infraction system will be implemented. We hope this never has to happen.
9. Members are asked to respect the decisions of the Slice of Life Moderators and Administrators. However, if you feel a decision has been made unjustly, please contact an Administrator via PM.
10. The aim of the Slice of Life forum is to provide a friendly place where members can share parenting and lifestyle information and day to day life experiences without too many restrictions. We would appreciate your assistance in helping us to keep it this way.
11. SoL does not permit 'lurking'. Lurking is when a member joins up, reads the threads on the forum, and doesn't post. This is unfair to our contributing members here and will not be tolerated.
12. All of our members will be treated as adults, and are expected to act as such. Bullying of other members through the PM system will not be tolerated. Continual behaviour that requires moderation of you and your posts on a regular basis will not be tolerated, isn't within the spirit of what Slice of Life is about, and you will not be allowed to participate on the forum.
13. Bitching and / or slander of the Slice of Life Lifestyle Forums and / or it's members on other forums means that you forfeit your priviledge to participate in the forum on a temporary basis, or may result in your permanent banning.
14. At SoL we consider ourselves a supportive community and encourage a generosity of spirit, however, having such a large community, we run the risk of saturating our members with requests for help. Prior to any threads being posted requesting specific help for individual members, approval from the moderation team is required.
Self Banning
15. Members have the option to self-ban. The self-ban minimum is 7 days from the date you request it. Re-activation is not automatic, and will be the self-banning members responsibility to contact SoL to un-self-ban.
16. Members who post 'goodbye' threads will be considered by moderators as having self-banned. The moderators here do not have the time to be at the mercy of people's moods and tantrums.
17. If a member who has self-banned is caught using another username to access the forum, they will be banned from the forum for 3 months. It is very unfair to members who believe you are having a break, and may be worried, to still be lurking here under a different username.
Links to other websites (via posts or private messages)
18. We allow links to other websites. However if it is of a personal advertising nature, then please contact a Moderator to gain prior approval. Advertising links that have not been approved by a Moderator will be removed. Links to Ebay listing are not allowed.
19. Members must not post a link that could be potentially offensive or of graphic nature in the open forum. This will result in you being immediately banned from the forum without warning. Members are welcome to use the Adults Only Sealed Section for more adult orientated material and chat.
20. Members must not post links to other forums with the agenda of slandering either the forum or forum members. Members are also asked not to use the pm system to exchange links to any other forums.
21. Spamming is illegal and will not be tolerated by Slice of Life. If any member is caught doing so they will risk losing their membership. We will also delete all PMs pertaining to a member if we feel that the PM system has been abused.
22. The owners of The Slice of Life Forum reserve the right to remove any link for any reason.
Signature & Advertising Guidelines
23. In order to qualify for advertising in your signature, you would need to have a legitimate WAHM business that involves you handmaking your items. Tupperware, Avon, Mary Kay, Nutrimetics, Amway etc do not qualify as a legitimate WAHM business to the co-owners of Slice of Life. This is non-negotiable.
24. You may not have a link to your webstore or email in your signature, only a description of your business, with an invitation to PM you for more details is allowed. The following is an example:

25. You may have your business logo in your signature, if you satisfy the post count needed for a signature picture (2000 posts).
26. Anyone who fails to abide by these rules may have their account banned from participation from the Slice of Life Lifestyle Forums.
27. Usernotes can be used for customers of WAHM businesses to leave feedback for items purchased.
28. Any WAHM found to be ripping off the membership in any way will have their account banned, and your details possibly forwarded to the police for further investigation.
29. Before you conduct any "market research" for your WAH products on SoL, please gain prior approval by a moderator. Any market research not previously approved by a moderator of SoL will be deleted immediately without warning.
